Hellenic Aquatics is pleased to host two ASCA Certification Clinics, one in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 04-08 September, and one in Athens, Greece, from 10-14 September, led by internationally respected coach and educator Chad Onken.
These five-day clinics are part of the education pathway of the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA), one of the world’s leading organizations dedicated to the professional development of swimming coaches. ASCA provides a globally recognized certification system designed to help coaches build knowledge progressively and improve their effectiveness on deck.
About the Clinics
The clinics will cover key concepts relevant to ASCA Levels 1, 2, and 3, making them suitable for swimming professionals at different stages of their development.
Participants will explore essential coaching topics, including:
- stroke technique and skill development
- training principles and athlete progression
- season planning and program structure
- physiology and training adaptation
- race preparation and performance planning
- long-term athlete development
The course is designed to bridge theory and practice, helping coaches better understand how to apply modern training principles within their own programs.

About Chad Onken
The clinics will be led by Chad Onken, an ASCA Level 5 certified coach and Director of International Clinics for ASCA.
Chad is the CEO and Co-Owner of Quest Swimming (USA) and has coached athletes to national and international success, including Olympic Trials qualifiers and Olympic gold medalist Cullen Jones. With experience across age-group, NCAA, and elite-level swimming, he has delivered coaching education in nearly 30 countries.
Known for his engaging and practical teaching style, Chad focuses on helping coaches connect high-level concepts with real-world coaching situations.
What the Clinic Offers
Participation in the ASCA Certification Clinic provides comprehensive coaching education covering ASCA Levels 1, 2, and 3, as well as the opportunity to obtain ASCA Level 3 Certification upon successful completion of the required process. The participation package also includes a two-year membership with the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA), giving coaches access to an international network of professional education, resources, and development opportunities. Through the clinic, participants will gain practical tools, modern coaching knowledge, and internationally recognized guidance that they can immediately apply in their daily work with athletes and teams.
